2. Why should I brand my small or medium size (SMME) business?

A brand creates a unique identity for your business. It makes you different to other businesses that provide similar goods or services and easy to remember. You and your business build a reputation, credibility and stand out in a crowded market place.

3. Why is personal branding used?

Personal branding is used for small and medium size businesses (SMME’s) where the owner is an entrepreneur, or for professional people and firms. The person becomes the brand. For example Oprah her name and personal style is her brand. Personal branding is also useful for people on a career path that want to emphasise their unique capabilities and create a noticeable identity.

4. What is marketing?

Marketing is not just advertising! Marketing is not just selling! Marketing is about products and services. Marketing is about where to distribute your product or service and how to set prices. It’s about segmenting and targeting your market and so much more.

5. What is the difference between a presentation, training course and a workshop?

A presentation provides information in a short space of time. Training courses and workshops are longer and more interactive. They can be more practical and can include case studies on what other businesses have done in the past. Also, role playing i.e. creating a business situation during training, where two or more people act out the possible ways the situation could happen in real business life.

6. What is the difference between creativity and innovation?

Creativity is the ideas and brainstorming phase. Innovation channels and focuses creativity into a commercially usable business application. For example a technological invention that can be patented may start of as a few drawings.

By attending training courses and gaining knowledge by reading, surfing and attending business networking events.

Yes, for business growth in a dynamic and changing world, knowledge is empowering and gives your business a competitive advantage. Training is a quick and easy way of updating your knowledge and skills.

9. How does networking work to market my business?

By meeting other entrepreneurs you can communicate, connect and become visible. You may get referrals and meet interesting people and learn about their businesses. They may become customers, clients or suppliers.
